About Mark

I offer low cost individual counselling in central Stroud.

I am in the final stages of my four year counselling diploma and I am starting my private practice. My training was with the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC).

I receive frequent professional supervision and feel able to offer a valuable service at an affordable rate. This is currently £25 per hour.

My approach to counselling is integrative. This means that I draw on several theoretic sources, primarily person centred and psychodynamic. Put simply, this means valuing who you are as an individual and looking at patterns from your past.

What I see as most important is that I provide a confidential place and an attentive listening; where you are able to bring your concerns and give voice to your feelings.

I also draw from my experience and three year training in Somatic Experiencing (SE®) as developed by Peter Levine. In counselling, it can help bring more awareness to feelings held in the body particularly when expressing them in words is difficult.

I have a life long interest in the depth psychology of C G Jung. I believe this helps to bring a wider sense of meaning. Whereas other theories might help make sense of the past, Jungian ideas offer possibilities for making sense of the future, or life as a whole. And this can at least feel encouraging.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I follow their code of ethics.
