Psychotherapist in training, UKCP trainee member
Individuals in Cheltenham and Bradford on Avon (Wiltshire)
In 1997, I qualified as a certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) with Marshall Rosenberg: NVC still informs my practice. On the back of this training, I worked with groups, couples and individuals, supporting them to heal conflicts within themselves.
Over time, I became aware that, not only did I want to go deeper than NVC seemed to allow, but also, I did not have a way of understanding all that I found, particularly when working with individuals. Doubtless, my awareness was enhanced by experiences in therapy, which I had begun in 1986, and my doctoral research, completed in 2000.
In an attempt to satisfy my 'hunger', I approached two institutions to train first as counsellor and then as a group analyst, successfully completing the first year of group analysis training with the Institute of Group Analysis in 2008. However, neither brought me the 'relational home' I was looking for, and which I have now truly found at BCPC, training in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy.
